As Terminal Operations Manager, you will serve as right hand to the Site Manager, overseeing the daily operations of a bulk terminal facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant handling of agricultural commodities. You will lead a team of operators and technicians, manage logistics, inventory, and overseeing any customs formalities needed to export the goods, ensuring that all activities align with company standards and regulatory requirements.

 

This is a key leadership role requiring strong operational expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all terminal activities including receiving, storing, handling, and shipping of products.
  • Monitor and optimize terminal throughput, equipment utilization, and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with logistics, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure timely and accurate collection of products.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and reporting systems.
  • Lead and supervise terminal staff, including scheduling, training, performance management, and workforce planning.
  • Participate in employee selection and development to meet current and future operational needs.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture; identify and address workplace hazards.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents, ensuring proper documentation and resolution.
  • Promote and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as liaison between the Site Managers and department managers to ensure effective communication and information flow.
  • Collaborate with local, regional, and national authorities to support organizational goals.
  • Maintain good relationships with local and regional authorities and with other port operators to ensure anticipated changes or projects that can impact the terminal operations and efficiency.
  • Manage operational budgets and control costs.
  • Ensure timely, safe, and budget-conscious execution of approved projects.
  • Support capital project planning and execution, be they related to growth, safety or maintenance.
  • Ensure all functions are performed in accordance with CHS Group policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in terminal, plant, or industrial operations.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing teams and operational processes.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and operational software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Fluent in Romanian; English proficiency required.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience including plant construction and equipment to implement efficient operating procedures
  • Experience in agribusiness, energy, or bulk commodity handling.
  • Familiarity with port operations and customs procedures.
  • Project management experience.
