Summary
CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Country Operations Division. We are looking for a Construction Project Manager to manage the “contract to construction” phase. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, be able to negotiate, work independently, make sound decisions, lead and influence others, as well as meet deadlines and manage conflict.
****This role will initially be based out of Myrtle Grove, Louisiana*****
Responsibilities
- Oversee and execute multiple Agriculture construction projects, contractors, and sub-contractors simultaneously.
- Create construction schedule and budget, and ensure budget, project specs, deadlines, material deliveries, and quality assurance are met.
- Provide leadership, training, and accountability for construction staff and ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times.
- Inspect and examine construction site and field conditions to identify problems, potential problems and as well as identify cost saving measures.
- Keep all parties informed on issues that could affect the project and propose possible solutions.
- Facilitate conference calls with CHS management, vendors, and others as needed.
- Review, verify and red-line construction blueprints prior to CHS approval and construction.
- Review documents for accuracy and ensure compliance with all governmental (city, county, state, federal) and CHS standards.
- Negotiate change orders, ensure proper documentation is in place, and appropriate people are informed of the change.
- Manage and maintain control log, contract documents, drawings, change orders, status reports, etc.
- Provide consistent and detailed communication, both written and verbal, with CHS management and staff, contractors, engineers, consultants, and government officials.
- Continuously evaluate project status to ensure contract agreement is met, identify and facilitate what extra resources are needed to keep project on course.
- Work with others to resolve conflict and construction project related issues.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures; ensure all government regulations (OSHA, EPA, and other regulations) are adhered to.
- Identify and communicate workplace hazards and take corrective action as needed.
- Travel 50-75% domestically and be on-call 24/7.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, engineering or other related program with construction and/or architectural disciplines
- 7 plus years of experience as a construction project manager, preferably working on $80-120 million dollar projects to include:
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience reading blueprints, understanding detailed constructions plans, and bring projects together
- Experience with city, county, state and federal safety and building codes and regulations
- Experience negotiating change orders, conflict resolution, and problem solving complex issues
- Travel up to 75% of the time
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Additional Qualifications
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Professional Project Manager (PMP)
- Agricultural Construction experience, with grain and agronomy assets
Physical Requirements
• Must be able bend, stoop, kneel or crouch, climb ladders and stairs up to 25 feet and lift or carry loads up to 25 pounds
