Role Overview

As a Senior Commodity Marketer at CHS, you will play an important role in shaping our market access strategy and strengthening CHS’s presence in key destination markets. This position focuses on building deep customer relationships and identifying opportunities to expand CHS’s footprint across the grain supply chain.

 

You will act as the primary point of contact for buyers, ensuring seamless execution from negotiation through delivery and payment. By leveraging market intelligence and collaborating with global offices, you will anticipate customer needs, identify downstream opportunities, and drive CHS’s growth in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion CHS’s market access strategy at destination markets and support delivering on annual marketing plans for defined commodity volumes into North Africa and/or Middle East. A candidate with additional experience into West and East Africa is a plus for CHS future growth plan.
  • Communicate directly with key customers, providing valuable insights and services to foster long-term relationships and repeat business.
  • Act as CHS’s primary representative throughout the customer journey - from initial negotiation and contract creation to physical cargo execution and payment.
  • Integrate trade positions, market views, and overall strategies to approach markets and customers effectively.
  • Regularly meet with targeted customers to strengthen strategic partnerships, foster trust, and develop lasting business relationships.
  • Collaborate with global CHS offices to ensure smooth information flow and consistent market representation.
  • Contribute to counterparty risk assessments in partnership with the risk team.
  • Continuously seek downstream opportunities to get closer to end users and expand CHS’s footprint at destination.

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in grain commodities marketing and trading
  • Deep expertise in grains (wheat, corn, soybeans)
  • Proven experience monitoring imports and conducting competitive analysis for target countries
  • Strong knowledge of contract terms for origins such as Black Sea, Argentina, US, and Brazil
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, marketing, and sales skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a balanced approach combining strategic vision and hands-on execution
  • High level of accountability and ownership in delivering results
  • Fluent in French and English; additional languages are a plus

Workplace & Mobility

This role is based in our Geneva office and follows a hybrid work model, with a preference for being on-site at least four days per week to foster collaboration and engagement with the team. The position also requires travel to meet customers and attend business meetings in the region.
