Summary
CHS is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Supervisor to lead quality and food safety initiatives at our sunflower processing facility in Grandin, ND. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality systems, supporting the production of high-quality sunflower products for further processing or packaging
Responsibilities
- Oversee QA/QC procedures over the sunflower processing life cycle from receipt of field run material through finished good shipment
- Supervise QA Technicians and ensure compliance with HACCP, GMPs and FSMA requirements
- Assist with the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the Food Safety Systems and Safe Quality Food (SQF) Systems and backup the primary SQF Practitioner, the Fargo QA Supervisor and QA Techs as needed
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), forms and work instructions to support the Food Safety and SQF systems
- Support customer meetings, regulatory visits and external audits, including preparation and response to findings
- Lead employee training on food safety programs and SOPs
- Evaluate and implement testing policies and procedures to ensure product specifications are met
- Fulfill customer document requests and monitor shared quality email inbox
- Conduct internal audits and inspections, develop and document CAPAs
- Execute the facility environmental monitoring program
- Perform root cause analysis into food safety/quality deviations and develop CAPAs
- Assist with development, implementation and evaluation of food safety metrics and initiatives
- Place and manage product quality/safety holds as needed and disposition product placed on food quality or safety holds. Have decision-making authority regarding exceptional products and food safety
- Review documentation and results related to the food safety system and issue certificates of analysis (COAs)
- Investigate customer complaints and prepare written reports on findings and CAPAs.
- Review and approve supplier documentation for compliance, including COAs
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, safety and sanitation to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards, correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions in the workplace
- Stay current on knowledge of all food and feed safety regulations and laws within the assigned region. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of GFSI, SQF and industry best practices
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in Quality Management and/or Quality Assurance
Additional Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology or Chemistry or similar
- 2 years experience in QA in a food processing environment
- HACCP Certification
- SQF Practitioner
- PCQI Certified

Physical Requirements
- On-site role in an agricultural processing environment with exposure to dust, allergens, and machinery.
- Able to lift 50lbs
- Able to climb ladders/stairs
- May require occasional weekend or extended hours during peak production or audit periods.

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
