Summary
The Creative Services Leader (communications specialist, expert) will oversee a dynamic, multi-member team of in-house and freelance writers, photographers, videographers and designers. This role is critical in ensuring the production of high-quality, engaging internal and external content that serves multiple stakeholders across the organization, including the marketing and communications teams. The successful candidate will work across communications and marketing to support content strategy and ensure content is delivered in a time-effective and impactful manner.
Responsibilities
Content creation: Oversee the production of various forms of content (written, visual, video) for internal and external audiences, ensuring all content aligns with brand standards and strategic objectives (as directed by communications and marketing colleagues). Set the creative direction and execution of the company’s podcast and other channels, from concept to final production. Bring creative and content skills to produce content alongside internal team members and freelancers. Collaborate closely with the marketing, communications and other internal teams to ensure content meets organizational needs and communicates messages effectively.
Team leadership: Lead a diverse internal and freelance team of writers, photographers, videographers and designers, providing guidance, mentorship and fostering a collaborative, innovative environment. Ensure the team is aligned with department goals and deadlines while maintaining high standards of creativity and quality.
Editorial calendar support: Collaborate with the content operations lead in maintaining a comprehensive content and creative services calendar, ensuring that all content is delivered on time, meets the strategic goals and aligns with the broader organizational schedule. Support the creative services team in balancing multiple priorities while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
Stakeholder engagement: Serve as the point of contact for internal stakeholders for the creative services team and its team members, including marketing and communications teams, ensuring their needs are met and content is created to support various campaigns, initiatives and events. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the impact of content through creative solutions, storytelling and visuals.
Process improvement and efficiency: Manage creative services workflows, set clear expectations and optimize processes to ensure timely and efficient content production. Partner with content operations lead on process development and enhancement. Ensure the team maintains effective communication with internal clients to streamline content requests and revisions.
Quality control: Ensure that all content produced is of the highest quality, accurately reflects the company’s values and brand and adheres to editorial standards. Review and approve all content before distribution, ensuring consistency and excellence in every piece.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- Creative Services and leadership experience: 7+ years of total experience in creative services and at least 5+ years of experience in a creative services leadership role, including supervising a diverse creative team (writers, graphic designers and artists, photographers, videographers).
- Freelance network experience: Experience building a network of freelancers with a wide range of capabilities to help deliver creative work in support of content, marketing and communication strategies.
- Content strategy experience: Extensive experience executing on corporate and marketing content strategy that drives to key business results.
- Content production and editorial expertise: Extensive experience overseeing the production of print publications podcasts, email newsletters and digital content.
- Stakeholder management: Experience collaborating with multiple internal teams in a highly matrixed organization to deliver content that meets strategic business objectives.
- Creative direction: A strong portfolio that demonstrates creative leadership, with a focus on high-quality content creation and innovative approaches to visual and written storytelling that aligns with brand standards.
- Branding and messaging: Understanding of reputation and brand strategy and how to maintain consistency across all forms of content, ensuring that the company’s voice and messaging are clearly communicated.
- Project and editorial calendar management: Proven ability to manage complex editorial calendars and production schedules, ensuring timely and effective delivery of multiple projects.

Digital content strategy: Familiarity with digital content production and social media strategy, particularly in how digital and print content can complement each other.

Creative software proficiency: Experience with creative software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), Canva or other similar tools.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Experience working in a matrix organization and building close partnerships with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, communications) to develop integrated content campaigns.
- Strong leadership: Ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team, creating an environment where creativity thrives and deadlines are met.
- Vision: A strong vision with the ability to think outside the box and drive innovative, brand-aligned creative.
- Organizational skills: Highly organized, with exceptional time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising quality.
- Excellent communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with team members, stakeholders, and leadership.
- Attention to detail: High attention to detail to ensure all content is polished, accurate, and consistent with the brand.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Communications, Communication Arts, Marketing, Journalism, Business, English or related field.
- A master's degree or additional certifications in a relevant field would be a plus.

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
