CHS has an opportunity in our centralized rail transportation group for a Logistics Specialist Intern. This role will support rail logistics process improvement, reporting, and shipment visibility. The intern will work with the logistics team to analyze data, understand workflows, and develop practical recommendations that support more efficient rail operations. This role is a good fit for someone who is detail-oriented, curious, comfortable working with data, and interested in supply chain. The hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Support a defined rail logistics project focused on improving shipment visibility, reporting accuracy, or process documentation.
- Gather and organize rail shipment, service, and operational data to support project analysis.
- Analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to improve rail logistics processes.
- Build or update reports, tools, and process documentation that help the logistics team work more efficiently.
- Partner with logistics team members to understand current workflows and document improvement opportunities.
- Recommend practical changes based on project findings and team feedback.
- Present project findings, recommendations, and outcomes to the logistics team.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- Currently enrolled in Supply Chain Management/Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, Business Economics, or Agribusiness
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to organize data, review information for accuracy, and summarize findings
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new systems and processes
Additional Qualifications
- Interest in transportation, logistics, supply chain, agriculture, or rail operations
- Experience with data analysis, reporting, process improvement, or project work
- Strong communication skills and ability to ask questions, share updates, and work with a team
CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
