Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Enterprise Transportation organization. We are looking for a Logistics Specialist Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused with excellent communication skills, project management and change management skills.  This intern should have the ability to influence internal customers, build relationships, negotiate truck rates with third party truck carriers, lead change efforts and be detailed orientated.  

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily truck shipments of CHS commodities utilizing systems/technology to meet our customer delivery expectations.
  • Identify truck backhaul opportunities with CHS private truck fleet and third-party truck carriers to improve truck/driver utilization and create value for CHS.
  • Utilize real time shipment track/trace technology or systems to provide ETAs to customer service, Sales and/or customers.
  • Coordinate truck loading and unloading schedules.
  • Perform routine logistical activities to include reporting value achieved, updates, emails, and customer service.
  • Identify and resolve service level issues utilizing root cause analysis and corrective actions to improve service to our customers and CHS.  
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with third party truck carrier operations personnel and well as CHS customer service, sales, and other internal stakeholders. 
  • Proactively communicate and escalate shipment issues to CHS transportation management that will adversely impact CHS plant operations and/or customer delivery expectations inclusive of safety related issues (accidents, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Currently enrolled in a Supply Chain, Business, Ag Business, or other related degree program
  • High School diploma or GED

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
