Summary

Join CHS as a Wholesale Crop Nutrients Field Sales Representative and help empower agriculture across the Midwest. In this dynamic role within our Agronomy division, you’ll serve as an Account Manager in the Western Region, covering territory from Central Kansas to Western Iowa. You’ll connect customers with essential crop nutrient solutions, positioning CHS as their preferred supplier. Success in this role requires strong verbal and written communication skills, a customer-focused mindset, self-starter attitude and a passion for building long-lasting relationships. You’ll collaborate with colleagues, suppliers, and customers to deliver innovative, purpose-driven strategies that support both grower success and the CHS mission.


The ideal candidate will reside within the territory.

Responsibilities

  • Establish CHS as a preferred supplier within an assigned customer base.
  • Oversee sales and contract execution of Crop Nutrients within this customer base.
  • Drive strategic marketing initiatives, cultivate customer relationships, expand the book of business to support CHS investments in terminals and supply points to meet company objectives.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with customers, CHS trade team, and colleagues, and select suppliers.
  • Communicate CHS market views and value statements effectively with customers to create long-term relationships driving market share growth
  • Share market & territory demand information both internally and externally as guided.
  • Maintain monthly forecasts and work with trade team to develop terminal / source needs by product.
  • Aid sales and supply management to manage third party warehousing agreements.
  • Collaborate within CHS to meet shared objectives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key industry, strategic community partners, and be involved with state and industry associations.
  • Engage with customers and colleagues in a courteous, professional, and solution-oriented manner to foster trust, ensure satisfaction, and strengthen long-term partnerships
  • Tackle problems with a continuous improvement mindset to achieve success.
  • Collaborate w/ CSH credit to evaluate account credit status and manage collection of accounts receivable in accordance with CHS policies.  
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Travel up to 60% of the time, while maintaining appropriate expense budgets

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Collaborate with other CHS divisions to leverage business relationships, growing the CHS enterprise.
  • Forecast supply requirements by month and annual basis.
  • Manage P and L for an assigned territory

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in Sales, Business Development, and/or Sales Business Operations
  • Must be available to travel up to 60% of the time within the designated territory.

Additional Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a focus in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, or a related program.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in sales, including:
    • Supplying, selling, and marketing agricultural products
    • Developing and executing sales and marketing strategies
    • Budget and P&L management
    • Selling and negotiating contracts
    • Market pricing and contract negotiations
  • Strong understanding of commodity markets and risk management tools
  • In-depth knowledge of the crop nutrients business
  • Proven success in outside sales, including delivering presentations, persuasive negotiation, customer service, conflict resolution, and working independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
    Must meet pre-employment screening requirements, which may include drug testing, criminal background check, motor vehicle record review, physical assessment, and FMCSA Clearinghouse verification, depending on role and industry standards

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
