Summary
CHS has an exciting opportunity on our CHS Animal Nutrition team. We are looking for a National Sales Director to lead the CHS Animal Nutrition sales organization. This team is responsible for organic growth, sales, customer experience and account management for Animal Nutrition. National Sales Director responsibilities include creating and executing a sales and growth strategy for CHS Animal Nutrition, establishment of sales territories, and the hiring and development of sales managers and consultants. The National Sales Director works closely with the Director of Product Development, Regional Operations Managers and other members of the Animal Nutrition leadership team to drive profitable growth and ensure a positive customer experience that delivers value to our customers and strong returns for our owners. You must have strong business acumen and relationship management skills and exceptional communication, leadership and problem-solving ability. You must be comfortable with change, ambiguity, and adept at managing competing demands
Responsibilities
- Lead the CHS Animal Nutrition sales organization including setting sales and growth goals for sales managers and consultants to ensure business goals are met, developing and refining sales commission program to drive sales growth and ensure alignment across the organization, implementing sales managers and consultant training that addresses basic and advanced sales skills, and coaching, developing and evaluating employees.
- Establish and achieve annual growth targets for the Animal Nutrition sales organization.
- Ensure sufficient market coverage to capture market share aligned with market mapping that quantifies the size of the market.
- Develop and implement a sales strategy to address the broad range of customers throughout the Animal Nutrition market area.
- Support the development of extensive market/customer analysis and market mapping to ensure the differing needs of customer segments are understood and sales coverage/product line needs are understood.
- Develop and implement omni-channel route to market strategies to ensure appropriate access to direct and indirect livestock customers in the production ag and lifestyle market segments.
- Work effectively with other members of the Animal Nutrition leadership team including, but not limited to, operations, marketing and EHS.
- Establish and maintain relationships with industry organizations like AFIA, livestock councils, etc.
- Provide product recommendations and expertise, ensuring connection with university and/or industry research resources.
- Establish effective relationships with key customers and business partners to maintain and grow the business.
- Lead the safety program for the sales organization, ensuring the safety of our sales consultants including identifying appropriate training and ensuring its delivery to the team.
- Champion and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Model safe behaviors and hold team accountable to safety regulations and policies.
- Drive Lean practices to continually improve how we sell and service our customers.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- 7 plus years of overall experience in sales and/or leading a sales team, business development, business strategy and talent development and succession planning
- Prior leadership experience with progressively advancing level of leadership responsibilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of the sales process and the livestock and animal nutrition industries.
- Experience working with multiple remote offices and employees
- Proficient in Office 365, Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time domestically
Additional Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, ag business, animal nutrition, marketing or related field
- Experience with sales compensation program design and administration.
