Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Create and/or update Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and associated technical documents.
  • Participate in project design reviews and provide technical input regarding process improvements.
  • Identify and report safety, environmental, regulatory, and compliance concerns and associated potential corrective actions.
  • Analyze operational, maintenance, and engineering data to develop actionable recommendations for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Utilize drafting and design software to prepare, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate across the Pipeline and Terminals business unit to share technical concepts and best practices, and support the implementation of operational and engineering strategies.
  • Work effectively with line management, employees, union personnel, contractors, and professional staff to achieve business objectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support compliance with company policies, industry standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate effective communication between operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to ensure alignment on project goals and priorities.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement through active participation in team meetings, audits, and field activities.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Currently a sophomore enrolled in a 4-year Engineering Program at a college/university.
  • Available to work 40 hours per week.

Additional Qualifications

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Previous work experience in a petrochemical facility, refinery, pipeline or other industrial setting.
  • Proficient with drafting and design software with the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of industrial processes, safety management systems, environmental compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience developing operating procedures, maintenance practices, or engineering documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while contributing to cross-functional teams.

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
