POSITION OVERVIEW
CHS has an exciting opportunity for a Middle Office and Financial Risk Senior Manager within our Finance Team, supporting South America (SOAM), which includes Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. This leader will partner closely with all Finance and Commercial areas to monitor risk positions, Mark to Market valuations, FX exposure and support financial decision-making, develop talent, and drive process excellence and risk mitigation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

People

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities to a team of five specialists/analysts.
  • One SOAM Middle Office & Finance Risk team
  • Build organizational capacity within the team and initiate succession planning.
  • Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams, including senior leadership, to align financial goals with operational strategies and creating a common risk awareness mindset.

Processes

  • Monitor business positions exposure and mark to market valuations to ensure an adequate controlling of the origination margin and related cost components.
  • Focus on risk mitigation contributing to the identification and assessment of any financial risks that could impact the company strategy.
  • Ensure Integrity and consistency of all the reported positions including FX Position and PNL tracking.
  • Continuous monitoring of Closed and Open transactions and deliver data-driven insights to control our PNL/gross margin analysis and explanations.
  • Oversee the SOAM operational groups' annual budget and forecast processes by delivering data-driven insights to optimize plans and achieve volume and gross margin objectives.
  • Fertilizer regional L/S position, MTM/LCM control and analysis.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, controls and support business processes.

Data & Tech

  • Process and data sourcing automatization. Systems and BI tools integration in collaboration with the Global Business Intelligence (BI) team.
  • Enhance reporting processes by implementing tools and systems to improve FX Position monitoring and management.
  • Leverage advanced analytics and optimize ERP systems (e.g., JDE, WSYS, SIAGRI) to drive operational efficiencies and strategic decision-making.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or another related field.
  • Master’s degree in or Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Industry experience in Agriculture, Corporate Finance, Banking, Energy, or a related sector.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including financial management, treasury, FP&A, corporate finance, financial accounting, and reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of business systems, processes, and strong understanding of financial derivatives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and advanced reporting tools such as Power BI.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, JD Edwards, or Oracle).
  • Prior experience operating in a strong internal controls environment with expertise in establishing and monitoring effective control activities.
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED):

  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA or CFA/Economics.
  • Green Belt or Lean Silver Certification.
  • Proven ability to:
    • Handle complex assignments independently.
    • Communicate effectively across multiple organizational levels.
    • Advocate for ideas and provide sound rationale for recommendations.
    • Navigate and influence in a multicultural and cross-functional environment.
    • Develop talent and build strong teams to achieve desired outcomes.
    • Familiarity with advanced analytics tools, such as Power BI.
    • Experience in system implementations and process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency.
