Summary

CHS is seeking a high-performing Senior Ag Retail Sales Manager to lead our direct-to-farm sales team across Agronomy, Energy, and Grain product lines in the Columbia Basin region. Based in Othello, WA, this role requires regular in-region travel and strong engagement with both customers and team members. The ideal candidate will live—or be willing to relocate—within the territory and be comfortable working in a hybrid model that blends in-person and virtual leadership.

This role is responsible for executing go-to-market strategies, developing talent, and enhancing the customer experience across a large, geographically dispersed team. Success requires strong business acumen, collaborative leadership, and a data-driven, coaching-forward approach.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team across Agronomy, Energy, and Grain.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Promote ongoing learning through training, feedback loops, and peer development.
Sales Strategy & Execution
  • Execute regional go-to-market strategies aligned with CHS priorities.
  • Leverage tools (e.g., Dynamic Sales, customer analytics platforms) to drive revenue, efficiency, and market share.
  • Lead cross-selling and joint planning efforts across product lines to grow customer value.
Customer Engagement & Field Presence
  • Maintain a strong field presence through regular on-farm visits with sellers and customers.
  • Ensure a proactive, value-based approach to customer service and problem-solving.
  • Act on feedback to continuously improve customer experience and loyalty.
Data-Driven Performance & Accountability
  • Monitor KPIs including customer share of wallet, cross-sell ratio, forecast accuracy, and utilization of digital sales tools.
  • Coach team on using data and insights to tailor solutions and drive performance.
  • Take corrective actions as needed to meet or exceed sales targets.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 7+ years of experience in Agronomy, Grain, Animal Nutrition, or Energy Sales.
  • Or previous experience in a sales role demonstrating and delivering strong sales performance and/or previous experience leading sales teams
  • Prior leadership experience with progressively advancing level of leadership responsibilities

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business and/or agriculture related program.
  • Previous experience leading a sales team
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • This position is designated by CHS Inc. as a safety-sensitive position pursuant to Washington law, RCW 49.44.240.   • Valid Drivers license -- up to 25% travel

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
