Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our procurement group.  We are looking for a globalexpert Manager, Purchasing to serve as a strategic leader in managing indirect procurement for CHS operations in South America. This role is responsible for optimizing sourcing strategies across production and non-production categories, including maintenance, logistics, production materials (packaging, silo bags, additives, biomass, etc), IT, HR, and corporate services, while ensuring compliance, cost efficiency, and alignment with global procurement policies.  

 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead procurement activities for indirect categories, including MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations), spare parts, technical services, IT, marketing, and professional services. 

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that drive cost savings, supplier performance, and operational excellence. 

  • Manage supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and performance monitoring through KPIs and SLAs. 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, legal, and sustainability teams to ensure alignment and value creation. 

  • Supervise and mentor a team of buyers and analysts, fostering a culture of high performance and ethical procurement. 

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, audit requirements, and external regulations. 

  • Participate in digital transformation initiatives and continuous improvement projects. 

  • Represent the procurement function in internal and external forums, contributing strategic insights and market intelligence. 

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (JDE) and e-procurement platforms. 

  • Advanced English (required for global stakeholder engagement). 

  • Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capabilities.

 

Minimum Qualifications (required) 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or related fields;
  • Postgraduate degree or MBA in Supply Chain, Strategic Management, or Agribusiness (preferred);
  • Proven experience in indirect procurement, ideally within multinational or agro-industrial environments.
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills;
