Summary
Join our dynamic team of nutrition sales consultants and play a key role in advancing the success of our innovative animal nutrition solutions. CHS Animal Nutrition has an exciting opportunity in the Midwest region for an Expert Animal Nutrition Sales Consultant. In this role, you will promote the full range of animal nutrition products, solutions, and services to commercial cattle operations and key wholesale dealer accounts. We are looking for a self-motivated, customer-focused, and goal-driven sales professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
As part of our team, you will represent our proprietary line of cost-effective animal nutrition solutions that deliver consistent, proven results, giving ranchers and feed dealers a competitive edge. In addition, you will have the support of experienced CHS animal nutritionists who provide expert consultation on customized ration planning, livestock nutritional management, animal health, environmental engineering, and feed financing.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute territory strategy, partnering with internal and external business partners to achieve annual sales quota
- Proactively manage existing and new customer relationships, ensuring CHS is the supplier of choice for animal nutrition solutions through best practice account management and customer support.
- Develop Payback Feed market share in the beef and the co-op dealer segment by delivering innovative solutions and services based on leading industry trends
- Effectively negotiate contracts with commercial livestock producers, independent nutritionists, and other strategic partners to pursue new business opportunities aligned to our AN growth strategy
- Develop an optimal marketing plan in support of territory strategy, including but not limited to training programs, trade shows, producer meetings, and retail campaigns
- Support the development of feeding programs and offer tailored nutrition consulting that aligns with the producer's specific needs and goals.
- Guide best practices for sampling - ensure water, forage, grains, and feeds are tested regularly to provide the most accurate performance projections.
- Deliver price quotes, credit terms, and leverage promotions within the sales territory.
- Uphold accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and key territory opportunities in the company's CRM system.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma and/or GED
- 7+ years of experience in sales and business development
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel with overnight stays
Additional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Animal Science Business, Communications, Marketing, or in a related field
- 7+ years of animal nutrition and/or beef cattle experience preferred
- Experience developing marketing plans, calculating margins and profit
- Possess strong understanding of the beef and co-op dealer industry and economics
- Demonstrate strong ability in nutrition consulting competencies such as customized profit and breakeven projections, Daylex rations, and closeout analysis
- Strong analytical and business acumen, proficiency in Microsoft PowerBI
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Must meet pre-employment screening requirements, which may include drug testing, criminal background check, motor vehicle record review, physical assessment, and FMCSA Clearinghouse verification, depending on role and industry standards
CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
