Summary
CHS, Inc. is hiring a Seed Applied Technology (SAT) Specialist role to identify and grow the markets of seed treatments, inoculants, biologicals, and stored grain products within CHS Inc. The SAT Specialist provides field-facing technical product support for seed treatment, stored grain, inoculant (STI) products, and STI Customized seed treatment blending service. This includes promotion and development of custom blended seed treatments and other focus products. Additionally, the SAT Specialsit partners with other departments to develop and support seasonal execution of projects such as field and lab research, sales programing, inventory planning and management, along with STI Customized blending direction.
This position is remote with preferred location in North Dakota.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary field-facing technical lead for seed-applied technologies (seed treatments, inoculants, biologicals, stored grain products, and STI Customized blending service) across the region.
- Plan and execute demonstrations and field/lab evaluations; troubleshoot application issues (rates, compatibility, equipment calibration) and summarize performance results to guide recommendations.
- Support sales teams and key accounts through joint calls/on-site visits, consultative technical guidance, and in-season issue resolution to drive adoption and retention.
- Support retail operations with custom blend recipes and application recommendations, ensuring label compliance, SDS alignment, and product stewardship.
- Deliver training and coaching for sales teams, seed treaters, and customers; reinforce safe/accurate use and support change adoption when products or processes evolve.
- Partner with Product Development, Marketing, and Sales on field days/plots, seasonal programs, and customer-facing content (presentations, sell sheets, technical sheets, and digital resources).
- Monitor market trends, competitors, and regulatory/label changes; attend supplier training/industry events and share practical insights to improve field execution.
- Coordinate forecasts, ordering, and inventory guidelines with Procurement and Operations to ensure seasonal availability and responsible product handling at branches.
- Maintain timely documentation of trials, technical data, customer interactions, and expenses using approved systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, expense tools, and inventory/accounting software).
- Follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements; perform other duties as assigned to support essential job functions.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in agronomy sales and/or research
Additional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master's, or PhD degree preferred in agronomy, plant pathology, entomology or weed science
- Direct work experience in the desire fields can be substituted for educational degree.
- Five years’ experience in the agricultural industry.
- Two years of extensive experience and training in STI products and technologies.
- Working knowledge on STI markets.
- Capability of making recommendations and resolving issues at all levels.
- Able to interpret and understand labels, safety data sheets (SDS) and seed treater manuals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence.
- Proven ability to develop and retain business relationships.
- Active participation in one or more professional Ag organizations encouraged.
- Travel and overnight stay’s depending on seasonal business obligations.

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
